What about youth and work?

Within the framework of the Observatory for Mexico City—which seeks to generate focused analyses on key issues relevant to the city’s decision-making—Corazón Capital, in collaboration with the Global Opportunity Youth Network (GOYN) Mexico City, presents this study. The report aims to deepen the understanding of the conditions faced by young people in the country, particularly those living in situations of precarity and vulnerability.
The analysis centers on opportunity youth in Mexico City, who represent a vital potential for the city’s social and economic development. The findings warn that the demographic dividend is at risk, as a large youth population does not automatically translate into inclusion or upward mobility. The study further underscores the normalization of labor precariousness, the role of education as the primary gatekeeper of inclusion, and the persistence of structural inequalities—such as gender disparities and the lack of care services—that disproportionately affect young women.
