Zoe Mayorca

Mexico City, Mexico

Zoe Mayorca is an 18 year-old young woman, who lives in Mexico City’s neighborhood, INDECO. Since she was a little girl, she always wanted to be a teacher in order to share her knowledge with other girls and boys from the community.

In 2017, she joined Fútbol Más Foundation alongside her brother, project co-creator Owen Mayorca, and other community friends. They took soccer lessons in public community fields and realized how soccer was a great tool for social and community development. Through the years, Zoe became a leader and an example for other generations, she understood the soccer ball’s power to benefit dozens of girls and boys by teaching them values and skills that help them on and off the field. Moreover, with the help of the children’s parents she turned the field into a safe space for their community’s childhood and youth. Zoe is nowadays a teacher and enjoys sharing her knowledge and experiences. She has turned soccer into something that goes way beyond being a game or a sport, something that fosters a positive and safe environment for everyone at INDECO.
