Monicah Kahenda

Mombasa, Kenya

Meet Changemaker Monicah Kahenda from Changamwe Sub County. Monicah and her team have been engaging their community to ensure that girls are able to enjoy universal access to improved sanitation and hygiene and a clean and healthy environment. They have been engaging and training girls to make reusable sanitary towels which they can use overtime.

Through #GOYNCYIF, Monicah and her team have received $1000 to scale up their project. The investment will enable them to train 30 girls in making reusable towels to benefit 300 girls. This is in line with the Kenya Menstrual Hygiene Management Policy which seeks to ensure that all girls manage their menstruation hygienically, freely, with dignity without stigma or taboos, and with access to: the right information on MHM; menstrual products, services and facilities; and to safely dispose of menstrual waste. #WomensHealthmatters #MenstruationMatters #SafePeriods
