Hossain serves as an Aspen Fellow working with the Global Opportunity Network. He is a first-generation Yemeni-American based in Oakland, CA and joined the team after a career that connected social and systems impact and technology.
He started his career as a Partnerships Manager at Google working with high-growth startups and business development with Google for Education.After three years, he left Google to complete the Education Pioneers Fellowship working with NYC Kids RISE, an initiative supported by the NYC Department of Education to create 529 college accounts for all incoming kindergarten students in the K12 public education system. He then served as a product manager working with a variety of social impact technology companies including Aspiration Bank, a socially-conscious digital bank and Tala, a fintech startup that distributes microloans in East Africa, India, the Philippines and Mexico.
He also serves as a Global Shaper under the World Economic Forum and has recently served as an Economic Development Commissioner in his hometown of Richmond, CA.
